Preparation for the 2020-21 School Year

July 14, 2020

Dear Troup ISD Families,

Troup ISD has been busy preparing for the 2020-2021 school year.  Our top priority is the health and safety of our students and staff, and we have worked diligently to prepare for a safe reopening according to federal, state, and local guidelines.   We recognize the need to keep everyone informed about the upcoming school year.

We will begin the school year as planned on Wednesday, August 12 We currently have no plans to alter the 2020-2021 school calendar or extend the year. If we need to suspend classes due to health and safety conditions, teaching and learning will continue online.

We are committed to ensuring that all students receive the support and services that they need. We understand the importance of choice for families, so our families will be able to choose how their children will learn next year, including the option of 100% at-home distance learning. We will continue to offer effective, engaging instruction to all of our students, no matter which option families choose.

The following options are available to students in Troup ISD:

On-Campus Face-to-Face Teaching and Learning

Our campuses will be open for in-person learning.  Staff and students will be in a traditional classroom setting with health and safety guidelines in place.

At-Home Distance Teaching and Learning

Distance learning occurs when the student completes assigned lessons and activities online with assistance from the teacher.  The student follows a daily schedule and is expected to communicate and submit assignments each day.  The student may be expected to report to their school for testing.

Please be aware that attendance rules and grading policies apply to all students, regardless of the teaching and learning option.

We need all families to choose a learning option and complete this TISD Commitment Form for 2020-2021.  Completion of this form will provide our district important information as we finalize our plans.

In addition, all students are required to register in Skyward Family Access for the current school year.  Please click on the “Registration Open for 2020-2021 School Year” on the district homepage and follow the instructions for either current or new students.  If you need access to a computer to complete your forms, please come to the TISD Administration Building or any campus for assistance.

We are requesting that both the Commitment form and the Skyward enrollment forms be completed by July 27.

Together, we will navigate through these challenging times.  We look forward to having the opportunity to reconnect with our students soon.

Troup ISD’s commitment to ensuring the health and safety of all is a top priority.
