Technology and Library Services Department

Troup ISD Technology & Library Services, Delivering the World to Our Students!

The Department of Technology and Library Services is comprised of two separate divisions - technology and library services. Both divisions are under the supervision of the Executive Director of Technology and Library services.

The technology team is responsible for maintaining all technology equipment in classrooms and on the network. Currently, there are approximately one thousand (1000) computers in operation throughout the district, along with video conferencing equipment, interactive white boards, projectors, laptops, Palm Pilots, printers, and a variety of other equipment and software. Our network, under the management of Teresa Waggoner, is comprised of a gigabit fiber backbone with a 3MB connection to the Internet with transport over two T1 lines. We are in the process of moving to fiber which will provide a 10MB connection. Additionally, the district's phone system is a Voice Over IP system and runs on the network along with the district's security cameras and a host of other crucial network devices

In 2008, a new position was added to the technology department – that of technology integrationist.  The primary role of the technology integrationist is to design, facilitate, & implement technology staff development for teachers.  Additionally, the integrationist will work one-on-one with teachers in the classroom assisting them with the integration of technology in the instructional process.

Campus tech support is critical to our success. Mrs. Tammy Vaughan provides support to both the middle school and high school campuses. In addition to her role as technology specialist, Mrs. Vaughan is responsible for our local e-rate program and is first in line with tech support for students in our 1:1 immersion project. Mrs. Tricia Claiborne provides support on the elementary campus meeting the needs for the faculty and students. Along with tech support, Mrs. Claiborne tracks and maintains the fixed assets inventory for the entire district.

Campus libraries are responsible for providing access to resources and information for both students and teachers, as well as other district employees. Troup ISD houses a wide variety of print materials for students, from books to magazines and newspapers. On average, campus libraries circulate a combined total of more than 75,000 books to students! Our kids love to read!

Along with the print resources provided to our students we also maintain a large collection of audio visual resources.  Other library services include faculty access to United Streaming and online access to the Texas K12 databases for students and faculty.
