Joe Paul McElroy is currently completing his thirteenth consecutive year as a TISD board trustee. He is the TISD Board President and holds Place 4 on the board. Joe has also served as board secretary in the past

After graduating from Troup High School, Joe attended Tyler Junior College and The University of Texas at Austin.

Joe is a lifetime resident of Troup where he is an active member in the community. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, and serves as Chairman of the Board for the Cameron – J. Jarvis Troup Municipal Library. Joe was also awarded “Man of the Year” by the Troup Chamber of Commerce.

Joe and his wife Barbara have two children, who also graduated from Troup High School. They are the proud grandparents of one grandson. Joe and Barbara attend church at First United Methodist Church of Troup, where Joe is a member of the Administrative Board and serves as Chairman of the Permanent Endowment Fund Committee.
